    ELITE 3 uPVC Trunking

Marco’s Elite uPVC trunking has been utilised by contractor Imtech as part of a £57million new build programme of the Birmingham Conservatoire.

The new facility is the first complete new build Conservatoire in the UK since 1987, and will provide state-of-the-art performance space. It will comprise five performance venues, including a public concert hall with the capacity for 346 seats and a full orchestra, plus a recital hall at 150 seats and smaller experimental music space, organ and jazz rooms. There are also plans for more than 70 music-practice rooms of various sizes.

Work began in August 2015 and is scheduled for completion in summer 2017. The electrical installation is now underway by specialist contractor Imtech. The project is being developed in partnership with Millennium Point and Birmingham City Council, whilst Galliford Try has acted as main contractor.

Richard Hewish, Area Sales manager at Marco Cable Management commented: “This is a massive project for the city of Birmingham that will undoubtedly help put them on the map in terms of musical performance resources. Our Elite trunking product has been installed throughout to house the containment system, whist blending in beautifully with the modern, clean and bright environment.

The new facility will continue to provide world-class music education facilities for current and future students. Award-winning architects Feilden Clegg Bradley Studios (FCB) – who have worked on projects such as the Queen Elizabeth Hall at the South Bank Centre, the Victorian Theatre at Alexandra Palace and Brighton Dome – has designed the scheme.
