Marco has supplied a combination of steel wire cable tray and uPVC perimter trunking to electrical contractors carrying our major works at a new facility for Global UTC, Warrington. 

The college has been under construction as part of a 12-month programme before opening its doors to year 10, 11 and 12 students from across the region to study GCSEs, A Levels and vocational qualifications. Described as offering ‘exceptional facilities’ with a particular focus on supporting industry growth within the energy and infrastructure sectors. 

The £10 million new build was completed on time and ready for the new academic year having benefitted from a complex and large scale electrical installation programme which included a full range of containment solutions from Marco.

A UTC is an industry-orientated school designed for ambitious young people, aged 14-19, who have aspirations to become leading future innovators. UTC Warrington is funded by the government, is free to attend and is sponsored by a number of successful companies along with Manchester Metropolitan University (MMU). 

UTC Warrington is part of a movement across the UK towards specialist colleges, which are designed to address skills gaps within local industry. The Warrington Skills Commission, conducted in 2012 identified a key skills gap within engineering in the borough, with a particular focus on supporting industry growth within energy and infrastructure sectors. The college will house £1m of specialist equipment; additionally students will be able to access facilities at MMU locations across the region and industry-specific equipment at employer partner sites such as Sellafield, Amec Foster Wheeler and Tenet Consultants.
